SOWETO – The South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that the MTN8 final will be staged at Orlando Stadium on October 05, 2019.
The encounter will feature SuperSport United and Highlands Park as they look to walk away with the lucrative trophy and the R8 million cheque in prize money.
Following two thrilling semi-final clashes where the Highlands Park beat Polokwane City 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday night and SuperSport United edged Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 on Wednesday night, the final is set to produce fireworks.
With both coaches, Owen Da Gama and Kaitano Tembo looking to take the trophy from 2018/19 champions Cape Town City, the PSL has confirmed that the home of Orlando Pirates will stage the eagerly anticipated final.
“The iconic Orlando Stadium, that sits at the heart of South Africa’s most famous township, Soweto, will host the 2019/20 MTN8 final,” read a statement from the PSL.
“The #MTN8 Final will be played on Saturday, 05 October 2019. Kick-off time is at 18h00. This will be the first domestic cup final to be hosted at the Orlando Stadium in five years.

“The Owen Da Gama-led Highlands Park booked the passage after overcoming Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City in the quarterfinals and semi-finals respectively.
